What Is Global Access Direct Service

Global Access Direct (GAD) service is the implementation of our new generation of switching technology. GAD is a direct dial-through service for customers. This means the customer does not have to hang up when placing a long-distance call, giving the customer transparent access to our service.

How GAD - North America Works

  1. Customer dials a toll free number, 1-800-393-1000, into our USA switch. This is a toll-free call within the USA and Canada.
  2. If the customer's CLI/ANI (Automatic Number Identification or Caller ID) is delivered and recognized by the switch as a registered CLI/ANI, the customer hears a bong tone, and is prompted to dial the number they want to call. The prompt says "Please enter the country code and number you wish to call followed by the pound key."
  3. If the CLI/ANI is not registered, the customer is prompted for an authorization code. The prompt says "Please enter your authorization code." (If the customer enters a wrong code, the switch will again prompt for an authorization code.) After entering the 10 digit code, the customer is prompted to dial the number they want to call.
  4. The customer enters the destination number. The customer will hear, "Thank you for using Telegroup. Please hold while I connect your call." The call is completed via our international switching network.

Customer Instructions

  1. From a touch-tone phone, dial 1-800-393-1000.
  2. If registered CLI/ANI is delivered, skip to step 4.
  3. If registered CLI/ANI is NOT delivered, or if you are calling from a non-registered phone (e.g. a pay phone), dial your 10 digit authorization code, followed by the # key.
  4. Dial the country code, plus the number, followed by the # key.
  5. Press ## (pound key twice) to make additional calls.

NOTE: For steps 2, 3 and 4, pushing the # key is optional--it just speeds things up.

More GAD - North America Details

  1. Each account will have a monthly limit, like the GA Card. If no limit is specified on the order, the account will default to a $250 limit. When the customer reaches the limit, the line will no longer work until it is reset. Limits are reset on the 20th of each month.
  2. Billing increments are 30/06.
  3. No invoice is sent if the usage is under $10. Every 3 months from a customers agreement date there will be a flush month where whatever usage the customer has will be billed even if it's under $10.
  4. Called are tariffed in US dollars. Customers in Canada can pay their bill in Canadian dollars but the call detail will show in USA dollars only.
  5. No GST tax will be charged on Canadian invoices. All applicable US taxes will be charged on US invoices.
  6. Unverified codes (2 to 6 digits) will be available. Verified codes are being developed for GAD and will be posted when available.
  7. If GAD PIN is used from a US pay phone there will be a $0.30 cent surcharge, per New Tax Laws . Charge will show up as a separate line item on the invoice.
  8. If you use GAD PIN from a non-equal access area the originating number will not show up on the invoice and the call will show as Eastern Standard Time (the time at our NJ switch). The GAD Canada PIN calls from a non-equal access area will be rated at GAD USA rates instead of GAD Canada rates.
  9. The Canadian rate schedule will apply to all off shore calls from Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the USVI.
  10. If a call is made from a registered CLI/ANI phone, a call CAN be made from another phone simultaneously using the provided authorization code. (A customer's authorization code and CLI/ANI are registered separately on the switch and thus simultaneous calls are possible if the two access paths are used.)
  11. If a call in progress was authorized using an authorization code, another call CANNOT be initiated with the same authorization code.
  12. The customer must not deactivate the Caller ID feature on his or her phone or the CLI will not be delivered to the switch, and the customer will always be prompted for an authorization code.
  13. The too-free number for customer service is on your phone bill.

GAD- North America Added Features

  1. Lower Rates!
  2. Customers can use this service as traveling calling card from any touch tone phone within the USA or Canada, including pay phones.
  3. When calling from a phone not registered with us, you can still make calls by using your authorization code.
  4. After dialing the number you want to call press the (#) key once. This will connect your call faster.
  5. To place additional calls do not hang up. After the party you called has hung up press the (#) key twice (##). You will automatically receive another dial tone.
  6. In the past on international calls we have experienced delayed disconnects due to some countries telephone system. We have developed the (#*) feature. Entering the sequence (#*) after the other party hangs up, or at any time during the conversations, will disconnect the call immediately. Using this feature will insure disconnection from any call--the procedure for redialing (above) will not work. You must enter the authorization code again. Now that we have developed the (#* pound-star) feature to end the problem of delayed disconnecting, we will no longer give credit for calls that are not disconnected.
